“Jump Start Spring!” 3 Lectures on Saturday April 2, 2016 Open to the Public, this is an outstanding educational event that will Jump Start Your Spring!
First Session Bill Hendricks President of Klyn Nurseries, Perry, OH “Notable Natives – Top Choices for Award Winning Landscapes” With a growing need for information and sources of native plants, Bill’s presentation will leave you wanting more… native plants that is!!!!
There is an enhanced awareness today of the importance of native plants not only for natural areas, but for use in virtually every landscape situation. Public awareness is at an all-time high for importance of pollinators and interaction of wildlife. Environmentally it makes sense to incorporate natives in design and makes for economic sense as well. Preserving biodiversity and being sustainable in our landscapes provide many benefits: Typically longer plant life with lower maintenance requirements, storm water filtration, food for wildlife.
Second Session Bill Hendricks continues to delight us “Color Your Garden with Foliage” Bring diversity of colored foliage to perennial and woody gardens. While blooming plants are desired, foliage plants can add extra wow to the garden by providing interest far past the blooms.
Third Session Kathleen Gips (you may know her from The Village Herb Shop, Chagrin Falls) “Herbs for Flavor, Fragrance & Fitness” Stay well from the Smell! Kathleen has decades of knowledge on growing and using herbs for health and wellness. She will cover growing and using herbs in culinary, aromatherapy, home cleaning, teas, skin care & moth chasers. Our sense of smell is important in healing and overall health. Kathleen will be sharing methods of blending herbs you can use every day to make your mind, body and home well.
